PIEDMONT, Mo. — Labor Day may signal the end of the official recreation season, but many beautiful days remain to enjoy your public lands at Clearwater Lake. Lower temperatures and reduced visitation allows visitors to take advantage of many recreational opportunities with a more relaxing approach.

As the year’s recreation season winds down, there are several important dates to keep in mind if you are planning a fall camping trip to one of the lake’s five campgrounds.

Bluff View, Webb Creek and Highway K Parks will end services Sept. 16. Piedmont Park will end services Oct. 1, and River Road Park will end services Nov. 1. Following these dates no services will be provided, but camping is welcomed and is free, in return we ask you to remove your litter and respect the environment and others around you.

For those of you who like to plan ahead, it’s not too early to start making plans for next year. River Road Park will open March15, 2013, followed by Piedmont Park, April 15, 2013 and the three remaining parks Bluff View, Highway K and Webb Creek all opening May 15, 2013.

The 2013 reservation season will again be May 15 through Sept. 15, with camping on a first come, first serve basis outside of those dates. Since reservations can be made up to 180 days in advance, it is easy to insure your favorite campsite is reserved for the busy federal holidays.

To ensure a developed campsite will be available upon your arrival, call the National Recreation Reservation Service at 1-877-444-6777 or visit the website at www.recreation.gov and make your reservations in advance.
