HELMAND PROVINCE, Afghanistan - Coalition forces discovered an insurgent weapons cache in Sangin district, Helmand province, July 26. The cache, which included 19 pressure plates and more than 13Kg (30lbs) of explosive components, was destroyed on site.
Also today, the Afghan National Army 215th Maiwand Corps Public Affairs Office announced that their forces arrested one insurgent in the Garesh district of Helmand province during an operation conducted from July 23-25. The insurgent was found in possession of one IED, 100 meters of control wire and a pair of binoculars.
