SCOTIA, N.Y. -- Forty members of the New York Air National Guard's 109th Airlift Wing and one C-130 cargo plane returned from a deployment in Afghanistan, Monday, July 16.
"This crew has been over there the entire summer. They had a real successful tour over there and we are looking forward to having them home to get them reacquainted with their families and the 109th again," said Col. Shawn Clouthier, the commander of the 109th.
The 109th contingent provided air transportation support for American and coalition forces.
Some of the airmen deployed in March and were gone for 120 days while others deployed in May and were gone for 60 days.
