FORT STEWART, Ga. – Even though school year is over, the partnership between soldiers assigned to the 703rd Brigade Support Battalion, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division and Liberty Elementary continues.
Throughout the month of June, "Maintainer" soldiers are taking time out to help tutor the young students who are enrolled in summer school courses. Summer school is an opportunity for the children to gain extra knowledge before advancing to the next grade level.
“It feels wonderful to play such an active role in helping these children succeed,” said Spc. Skye Barton, Company C, 703rd BSB, adding that it is important to volunteer and help tutor the youth. “I am a mother and understand the importance of education in a child’s life.”
Each soldier was assigned to a classroom to work with those who may need an additional helping hand.
“It’s apparent that these children want to succeed and are willing to put in the extra work to achieve their goals,” stated Spc. Diamond Madison-Banks, Company C, 703rd BSB.
The dedication from both the Soldiers and the students has produced positive results. The "Maintainer" soldiers said hopefully the students will continue their success into the next school year.
