CLOVIS, N.M. - Cannon Air Force Base Radar Approach Control (RAPCON) transitioned to the state of the art Standard Terminal Automation Replacement System (STARS) on April 30, 2012. The new system replaced antiquated 40 year old equipment and vastly improves air traffic control services provided by the 27 SOSS airfield operations flight to the local flying community. U.S. Air Force Col. William West, 27th Special Operations Group commander, was present at the ribbon cutting ceremony to unveil the newly built RAPCON facility on May 7, 2012.
