    VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - U.S. Marine and long-time Borger, Texas, resident was promoted to the rank of corporal in the United States Marine Corps during a ceremony with Marines and Sailors from Marine Corps Security Cooperation Group aboard Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek – Fort Story, May 1.

    McNutt, who graduated from Borger High School in 2009, is currently serving as a comptroller at Marine Corps Security Cooperation Group.

    Since enlisting in September 2009, McNutt has provided more than $13 million in fiscal support to the Marines, Sailors and civilian personnel of the unit.

    Additionally, he has performed duties as a marksmanship coach and command post of the future (CPOF) system operator in support of the Georgia Deployment Program – International Security Assistance Force (GDP-ISAF). GDP-ISAF is a United States European Command directed program, which is led by U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Europe that trains and equips Republic of Georgia infantry battalions to serve alongside Marines in Afghanistan.

    One major highlight of his brief career was his selection as the MCSCG Marine of the Quarter in October 2010. He was recognized as such due to his exemplary work, dedication and attention to duty.

    McNutt lives in the Virginia Beach area of Virginia.

    His parents Justin and Earlena McNutt still reside in Borger, Texas area.

    The rank of corporal is the fourth enlisted rank in the U. S. Marine Corps. The rank is just above the rank of lance corporal and below sergeant. Marines with this rank are non-commissioned officer and have a pay grade of E-4. Corporal is the lowest grade of non-commissioned officer in the U.S. Marine Corps, though promotion to corporal traditionally confers a significant jump in authority and responsibility.

    Marine Corps Security Cooperation Group is a unit in the Marine Corps that coordinates, manages, executes, and evaluates United States Marine Corps Security Cooperation programs and activities, to include assessment, planning, military related education and training, and advisor support to ensure unity of effort in building Partner Nation Security Forces capacity and capability in order to facilitate USMC and regional Marine Forces component support to combatant commanders security cooperation objectives.
