    FORT BELVOIR, Va. - Army Maj. Gen. Lynn Collyar, director of DLA Logistics Operations, will become the next commander of Army Aviation and Missile Command at Redstone Arsenal, Ala., the Defense Department announced recently.

    Collyar, who has served in his role at DLA since August 2010, will replace Army Maj. Gen. James Rogers, who plans to retire. Before coming to DLA, Collyar was the 35th chief of ordnance at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Md., and Fort Lee, Va.

    A native of Huntsville, Ala., Collyar was commissioned in the Ordnance Corps upon graduation from the U.S. Military Academy in 1979. His military schools include Ordnance Officer Basic and Advanced courses, the Command and General Staff College, and the Industrial College of the Armed Forces. He also holds a master's degree in national resource strategy from the National Defense University in Washington, D.C.

    Collyar has served in various assignments over the years, including several overseas tours and many tours in the Pentagon. In 2006, Collyar became the commander of DLA’s Defense Distribution Center in New Cumberland, Pa.

    Joining Collyar at Redstone Arsenal will be Army Brig. Gen. Darrell Williams, commander of DLA Land and Maritime, who has been selected as the next deputy chief of staff for U.S. Army Materiel Command. Williams has served in his current post since September 2010.
