KANDAHAR AIRFIELD, Afghanistan – The 25th Combat Aviation Brigade, Task Force Wings, takes to the Afghanistan skies after its Transfer of Authority Ceremony with Task Force Thunder, 159th CAB, Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan, Feb. 17.
With the Transfers of Authority of TF Diamond Head, TF Gunfighter, TF Hammerhead, TF Lightning Horse, and TF Lobos complete, TF Wings is prepared to continue the mission of supporting approximately 64,000 members of the International Security Assistance Force and Afghanistan National Security Forces in Regional Command-South.
“Soldiers always continuously amaze you with what they are capable of,” said Col. Kenneth Royar, TF Thunder Commander. “TF Thunder has performed full spectrum aviation operations during this rotation allowing Afghanistan to become safer for its people. The 25th CAB is a great organization and I know they will take it to a new level.”
TF Wings will conduct full spectrum aviation operations during their time in Afghanistan. In addition to aviation operations, TF Wings will also build upon existing partnership relations with Afghanistan National Security Forces and coalition forces.
“It is a proud day for the entire Wings of Lightning Team to assume operations in Regional Command-South,” said Col. Frank Tate. “The Wings of Lightning brigade is especially appreciative of the quality of the relief in place led by TF Thunder. We are dedicated to live up to our motto, ‘Lele Makou No Na Puali,’ ‘We fly for the troops.’”
