KUNDUZ PROVINCE, Afghanistan - Commandos from the Afghan National Army’s 5th Commando Kandak, along with Afghan National Army Special Forces and coalition special operations forces, detained six insurgents in Pul-E-Khumri district Feb. 7.
The commandos were conducting a clearance operation to look for insurgents based on information from local villagers.
“Seeing villagers provide information to the commandos or the ANASF is a positive sign of trust in their own forces,” said a coalition SOF adviser.
The commandos turned over custody of the suspected insurgents to the National Directorate of Security in Kunduz.
“The commandos performed well on the mission,” added the coalition SOF adviser. “They continue to provide security for the Afghan people.”
No civilian casualties or property damage from the operation was reported.
