HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Mississippi’s newly appointed adjutant general was among the guests who gathered to celebrate the grand opening of the new Camp Shelby Federal Credit Union location on Warehouse Avenue, Jan 12.
“This is a great opportunity for the people who live and work around Camp Shelby, as well as the service members who come here to train for deployment overseas.” said Brig. Gen. Augustus L. Collins.
First chartered in May, 1967, the credit union operated out of several smaller locations over the years before finally moving to the new, larger building on Warehouse Avenue.
“We are very proud of the new building, and we’ve needed this space for quite some time,” said credit union manager Denise Collier. “This credit union started right across the road with a $5 deposit in a cigar box, so we’ve come a long way. We’re at $16 million in assets now with about 2,500 members, and looking to grow.”
