ZHARAY DISTRICT, KANDAHAR PROVINCE, Afghanistan –Afghan National Security Assistance Forces and Soldiers in 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment, discovered and secured a cache sight, Dec. 28, in order to deny insurgents the ability to conduct attacks on International Security Assistance Forces, ANSF and the local population.
Afghan local police searched the building after a report of insurgent activity in the area. The cache they discovered contained 19 acetylene tanks buried in the floor of a small abandoned building. The tanks could have been used in multiple attacks or a single, large scale attack. After the ALP secured the cache site, Soldiers in Combat Company, 1-32 Infantry arrived with an Explosive Ordinance Disposal team to safely transport the materials to Combat Outpost Nalgham.
