FOREST PARK, Ga. - Lt. Col. Vivian Key closed out her 30 year Army career with a ceremony carefully constructed with sentimental value. Key was surrounded by friends, family, church members and sorority sisters from Delta Sigma Theta as she executed her last official military duty.
She personally promoted her own niece. Second Lt. Shireisla Kelly was promoted to the rank of first lieutenant by her aunt in a ceremony that was special to both of them. Kelly was grateful to have her vastly experienced aunt promote her, while Key was thankful for the opportunity to perform such a rare military occurrence. A cake for each officer was displayed side by side at their reception table.
Both officers look forward to their future endeavors.
