MILWAUKEE - The 112th is in pre-deployment training at Camp Atterbury Indiana with the 157th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade from Wisconsin. The Aviation Battalion has elements from Wisconsin, Wyoming, New Jersey and North Dakota.
These aviators get to experience some of the most frightening training available, the "Dunker." Available only at Fort Rucker for the Army, the trainer simulates what happens when a helicopter crashes in the water.
The massive simulator mimics several different airframes for a realistic training exercise. The worst part of the training is the combination of darkness, being underwater, restricted breathing and being strapped in to a seat. It's an exercise in claustrophobia! Includes underwater footage.
