News: 'Blacksmith' soldiers receive Combat Badges

CONTINGENCY OPERATING BASE ADDER, Iraq – Col. Douglas C. Crissman, commander, 3rd Advise and Assist Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, awarded the Combat Action Badge and the Combat Medic Badge, to various Blacksmith soldiers who were under direct hostile enemy fire during combat operations in Iraq on May 8 during a ceremony at the Memorial Hall, on Contingency Operating Base Adder, Iraq, July 29.
The Combat Action Badge may be awarded to any soldier after the date of September 18, 2001 performing duties in an area where hostile fire pay or imminent danger pay is authorized, who is personally present and actively engaging or being engaged by the enemy, and performing satisfactorily in accordance with the prescribed rules of engagement.
