News: Public comments sought for USACE Galveston lease proposal

GALVESTON, Texas – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Galveston District, is seeking public comments as part of a real estate review of a proposed lease at the district’s headquarters building on the east end of Galveston Island.
USACE Galveston received an application from Texas Sea Base, a non-profit corporation 501 (c) (3) public charity, which assists in the education of Eagle and Sea Scouts. The applicant proposes to use two structures and approximately five acres of land, formerly used by the Texas National Guard’s Seaborne Challenge Corps, for educational and recreational purposes.
This application will be reviewed pursuant to Title 16, United States Code, Section 460d.
All comments pertaining to this public notice must be submitted on or before July 31. Extensions of the comment period may be granted for valid reasons provided a written request is received by the limiting date. If no comments are received by that date, it will be considered that there are no objections.
