PARRIS ISLAND, S.C. - In order to make himself more competitive for the rank of sergeant, depot mascot Cpl. Archibald Hummer tested for and earned his grey belt in the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program May 24.

Staff Sgt. Michelle Baerman, a martial arts instructor with Headquarters and Service Battalion, awarded Hummer his certificate of completion following a rigorous test during which Hummer showed a mastery of tan and grey belt techniques in MCMAP.
