VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- Bertha, Minn., native and Bertha-Hewitt High School class of 2008 graduate, Lance Cpl. Johnathan Woelfel was awarded a Certificate of Commendation by the commanding officer at Marine Corps Training and Advisory Group, Col. Christopher McCarthy for his recent selection as the unit’s Marine of the Quarter aboard Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story, Va., today.
Woelfel who is currently serving as a fiscal clerk at the logistics and embarkation section of MCTAG was recognized for his outstanding performance of duty and a collective standard of proficiency that exceeded all of his peers.
Woelfel checked into Marine Corps Training and Advisory Group in Virginia Beach, Va., in March of 2010. Prior to checking into MCTAG, Woelfel graduated from the Financial Management Resource Analyst course in Camp Johnson, N.C.
His father Mark Woelfel still resides in the Bertha, Minnesota area, and his mother Virginia Woelfel resides in the Chaska, Minn., area.
Marine Corps Training and Advisory Group is a unit in the Marine Corps that provides conventional training and advisor teams to work alongside partner Nations' security forces.
