GALVESTON, Texas – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Galveston District, awarded two task order contracts for hydrographic surveying of Texas waterways to TerraSond Ltd., May 6.
A task order was awarded in the amount of $126,687.19 to provide hydrographic single beam condition surveys of the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway from High Island, Texas, to Matagorda Bay.
“Using these hydrographic surveys, we will be able to identify shoaling areas along the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway, which will help in fulfilling our mission of keeping waterways open for navigation,” said Terrell Smith, hydrographic survey coordinator with the USACE Galveston District. “Additionally, these surveys will provide a baseline survey for comparison purposes in the event of a hurricane or tropical storm.”
A second task order was awarded in the amount of $17,045.30 to provide hydrographic surveys in Corpus Christi Bay near the La Quinta Ship Channel in San Patricio County, Texas.
“Hydrographic surveying near the La Quinta Ship Channel will assist us in creating plans and specifications for channel improvements,” said Smith.
