KANDAHAR, Afghanistan – Afghan National Security Forces, in partnership with International Security Assistance Forces, refurbished wells for residents March 30 – April 12, in Sub-District 8 of Kandahar City.
The refurbishment was a result of petitions by the village elders of Sara Ghundey, Mirza Mohammad Kalacha and Shinkay Ghundey, to improve living conditions and the quality of life for its residents.
Local elders have expressed considerable satisfaction with the refurbished wells.
The contractor said the ANSF-provided security allowed him to complete the wells in approximately two weeks with no insurgent influence at any point during the operation.
“It is very good when the government answers a problem the people have listed in a petition,” said Afghan National Police Maj. Shir Zaman, commander, Police Sub-Station 8. “It shows the government is strong and becomes stronger every day.”
