CAMP LEATHERNECK, Afghanistan – Col. Mike Sweeney, the Commander of Task Force Belleau Wood, visited with Bahraini service members on Camp Leatherneck in Helmand province, April 29. The informal visit included tea and volleyball games between the Marines and Bahrainis.

The two forces continuously strive to reinforce their strong working relationship, never wavering in the respect that they have for each other.

“[The Bahrainis] are extremely well trained,” Sweeney said. “They are very, very good at what they do.”

This respect carries over into the after-hours recreation that the service members often spend with each other.

“Marines and our guys have great relationships,” said Bahraini Lance Cpl. Yasirakhtar Hussain, a member of the Bahrain Special Security Forces. “We are like brothers.”

Sweeney and other MHG leaders frequently visit with the BSSF commanding officer, Maj. Khalid Mohammad Ali Aldoosary, and his troops to continue coalition security efforts.
