    1st Theater Sustainment Command

CAMP ARIFJAN, Kuwait - The 3rd Human Resource Sustainment Center, a Reserve component from Mississippi has completed their deployment to Kuwait, Afghanistan and Iraq in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom and Operation New Dawn. After spending more than 12 months in Theater, the team officially handed the reigns of operation over to the 14th HRSC from Fort Bragg, N.C., April 28.

During their deployment the troops of the 3rd HRSC, a joint service unit, have many accomplishments to be proud of within each of the units sections. Postal Operations moved more than 9000 pounds of mail during the holiday season, and was the first Personnel Center to develop a Human Resource Assistant Team Concept deploying teams to Afghanistan. This section also oversaw the HRSC Responsible Drawdown orders and coordinated with the 1st Theater Sustainment Command and Army Central Command to properly document 100 percent of 35 million dollars worth of U.S. Postal equipment in Theater, this being the first time it was done since 2006.

The Plans and Operations division was a vital part of all the Force management for Human Resource units in Theater and developed analytical tools which enable critical decisions to be made with postal operations.

Rest and Recuperation is the highlight to a soldiers deployment since it gives them a break in action to return home to their loved to spend some well deserved down time. During the 2010 holiday season the R&R program exceeded expectations by 300 percent with approximately six-thousand seven-hundred troops returning from Afghanistan. It was the hard work of the 3rd HRSC R&R team that brought the expected wait time for troops to make it out of theater to a standard hold over time of 30 hours or less.

The leader of this exceptional team, Col. Kay, spoke of the soldiers’ accomplishments saying, “I’m proud of what they have done, I’m proud to have served with them and look forward to working with them again.” All of their accomplishments were a collaborative effort to support the war fighter on every aspect from mail to finance to casualty assistance.
