News: Blue Star Moms meet Medal of Honor Mother

CAMP DODGE, Iowa - Iowa's Gold Star Mothers invited a special guest to help them unveil a new Medal Of Honor display at the Iowa Gold Star Museum. A large group of mothers, military members, veterans and local dignitaries were part of a ribbon-cutting ceremony to recognize those who have received our nation's highest honor.
Blue Star Mothers of Iowa helped celebrate the newest exhibit at the Iowa Gold Star Museum. Iowa's Medal of Honor recipients are now honored at the entrance to the museum.
Rosemary and Steve Giunta (Joon-tah), were featured guests at the event. They are the parents of Staff Sergeant Salvatore Giunta. Staff Sgt. Giunta received the Medal of Honor last November for actions in combat in 2007. Mrs. Giunta spoke to the crowd about how she dealt with her son's deployment and the changes to their lives since receiving the Medal.
Iowa Governor Terry Branstad, Congressman Leonard Boswell,
Congressman Dave Loebsack (lobe-sack) and several local dignitaries came to honor Iowa's heroes and the families that support them every day.
Following the luncheon and Mrs. Giunta's presentation, Governor Branstad and Mrs. Giunta cut the ribbon to reveal the museum's new display of each Iowan to receive the Medal of Honor.
