MAZAR-E SHARIF, Afghanistan – On March 3, a security shura was held between key Afghan National Security Forces and International Security Assistance Force leaders on Camp Marmal in northern Afghanistan.
The shura, which involved members of Combined Team North, focused on current and future security operations in ISAF’s Regional Command North. At the conclusion of the shura, German army Maj. Gen. Markus Kneip, commander, ISAF RC-North, addressed the participants and thanked them for the constructive discussions that took place and for being open to considering the ideas and issues presented by all sides.
Immediately following the shura Kneip; Lt. Gen. Mohammed Daoud, commander, Afghan National Police 303rd PAMIR Zone; Brig. Gen. Zalmay Wesa, commander, Afghan National Army 209th Corps; Brig. Gen. Habib Habib, commander, 5th Afghan Border Police Zone; and Brig. Gen. Habib Saidkher, commander, National Directorate of Security North, signed an operations plan before holding a press conference for local and international media.
