MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. – Marines of 3rd Assault Amphibian Battalion enjoyed the company of their daughters during the battalion’s father and daughter dance at the South Mesa Chapel Social Hall, Feb. 24.
“I feel like events like this are very important to bringing the family together, especially during times of pre-deployment or post-deployment,” said Master Sgt. Julian Ramirez, a maintenance chief with 3rd Assault Amphibian Battalion, who brought his daughter Stephanie to the dance.
“We’ve never been to anything like this for the battalion, and I enjoyed myself,” said Stephanie Ramirez.
Fathers donned their dress blues while their daughters dressed appropriately for the evening occasion. Participants enjoyed dinner, games and a night of dancing. The fathers even competed in an intense hula hoop contest for their daughters.
“We’ve been doing this for the past three years, and each year it keeps growing,” said Sarah Dauenhauer, the family readiness assistant for 3rd AA Bn. “Fathers are deployed a lot and are always in field exercises. This allows the dads to have at least one special night just with them.”
With a great night of fun that they will surely remember, the fathers of 3rd AA Bn. can continue with their training and their deployments with unforgettable memories that are sure to carry their spirits through the toughest times.
