HERAT, Afghanistan – Twenty students graduated from the Border Police training program at the Afghan Police Training Center in Herat province, Feb. 26.
The training was run by the Italian Guardia Di Finanza from Task Force Grifo.
Italian Capt. Alessandro Alberioli, Training from Task Force Grifo deputy commander, and lead instructor for the border police course said the students were motivated and professional.
“These guys have shown that they want to improve themselves and are professional policemen,” Alberioli said. “They have a lot of will and we are very happy they are graduating today.”
The four-week training course teaches basic International law, Afghan law and has practical training on fighting illegal trafficking, corruption, ambushing and drug smuggling.
The final week of training focused on border point security, vehicle and personnel searches and close protection team techniques.
The graduates will take up their posts at entry control points along the Regional Command-West area of responsibility.
