4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division

FORT RILEY, Kan. – Soldiers and families of the 2nd Battalion, 16th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division were blown away by the success of the Family Readiness Group Valentine’s Day Social, Feb. 10.

More than 250 Soldiers and family members attended the event which kicked off with a Kentucky Fried Chicken meal furnished in part by the 16th Infantry Regimental Association and the soldiers of Company C, 2-16 Inf.

“The 16th Infantry Regimental Association and our local partners really helped make this event a success,” said Lt. Col. Kevin Lambert, the commander of the ‘Rangers’ battalion. “The ‘Rangers’ are blessed to have such supportive partners, and look forward to continuing our relationship into the future.”

After the meal, children of the ‘Rangers’ battalion made crafts and participated in games provided by the wives of the FRG.

Then, more than $1,000 in prizes, including a Sony Car CD player, a Spa Resort Getaway Weekend, and a Garmin In-car Navigator, were given away to the Families present during the Door Prize drawing.

The Valentine’s Day Social was a great event for the Families to interact and meet with each other in a fun and relaxing atmosphere.

“Events like this really give us a chance to build communication and resiliency within the ‘Rangers’ family,” said Lambert. “Investing time and resources now, is essential in order to strengthen the Family and social pillars within our organization; in preparation for future deployments and challenges we will face.”
