GHAZNI, Afghanistan - Polish and American forces with Task Force White Eagle coordinated with Afghan national security forces in a joint operation Dec. 13 to support residents of three villages in Ghazni District prepare for the upcoming winter.
After gathering donated supplies, coalition forces handed them over to ANSF to distribute to villagers in the district. Afghan forces gave out more than 3,000 sets of winter clothing, 4,000 school supplies and several hundred pounds of flour, rice, beans and sugar.
“This way we strengthen the positive reception of the [Afghan National Army] soldiers among locals,” said Polish Maj. Zbigniew Marchlewicz, TF White Eagle Battle Group Alpha deputy commander. “At the same time, we show that cooperation between [International Security Assistance Force] and Afghan soldiers has been very successful.”
In each of three villages, ISAF soldiers organized a shura. These meetings marked the first time representatives of the Ghazni City’s mayor’s office and Ghazni Province governor’s office participated in such a shura.
“Residents were given the opportunity to submit not only their needs and problems that they suffer, but also to make their expectations for the coalition forces and local authorities,” said Polish 1st Lt. Jakub Węcławowicz, civilian-military cooperation, 1st Tactical Support Team commander.
