Afghan Air Force and Coalition Advisers Remember the Fallen

On Nov. 24, United States Air Force Tech Sgt. Arthur A. Barad, stationed at Afghan Air Force Base in Kabul, Afghanistan, with NATO Air Training Command - Afghanistan, took time from his advising duties to sketch a portrait of Cpl. Andrew L. Hutchins on a Mi-35 attack helicopter rocket pod and C-27 Spartan transport aircraft to honor the fallen solider. Barad does this for a fallen brother-in-arms, even though they have never met.

Hutchins, a 20-year-old from New Portland, Maine, lost his life in Khost Province, at combat outpost Sabari, Afghanistan, Nov. 8, while serving as a military policeman with the U.S. Army.

Cpl. Hutchins received his training at Fort Campbell, Ky., where he was assigned to the 3rd Special Troops Battalion, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 101st Airborne Division, Air Assault Group.

Hutchins was born April 30, 1990, in Farmington, the son of Jeffrey and Robin. He is survived by his wife, Heather, his unborn daughter Allyssa Braelynn, his mother Robin Norwood and her husband, Dwayne of Waltham and his father, Jeffrey Hutchins and his wife.

It is moments like this that remind me why I took my enlisted oath and swore to support and defend. You will be missed Cpl. Hutchins, but never forgotten.
