Ghazni PRT delivers supplies to the Touheed Abud School

GHAZNI CITY, Afghanistan - Polish and U.S. soldiers from the Ghazni Provincial Reconstruction Team delivered school supplies and furniture to the Touheed Abud School Oct.13.

The PRT distributed school supplies, scientific materials and furniture to the school, which was hit by an insurgent rocket in May.

Forward Operating Base Ghazni occasionally receives indirect fire; some of which misses its intended target. An insurgent rocket intended for the FOB hit the neighboring school.

“Many insurgent attacks hits civilian structures instead of military targets so we’re always responding to them,” said U.S. Army Capt. Anthony Evanego, PRT Ghazni Civil Affairs Team. “We want to let them know that we are not doing this to them it’s the insurgents doing it, but we recognize their plight and we’re trying to help them.”

The donated school supplies and scientific materials were collected during a school drive in Poland, and commander’s emergency response program funds were also used to help repair the damage to the school.

“Our school, office and headmaster want to thank the PRT,” said Hossiny, English-Pashtu teacher. “We want to thank the PRT for being our neighbors. They always tell the school and the people here ‘We’re located behind the school and will always support the school in every situation.”

Members of the PRT continue to improve relationships and develop the local population of Ghazni province.

“Were visiting schools, we’re improving the schools, and we’re repairing the damages done to the school by insurgents,” said Evanego. “The villages and the population are becoming more and more receptive to us.”
