KABUL, Afghanistan - Working off intelligence reports, Afghan National Security Forces and International Security Assistance Forces arrested a Taliban leader during an operation in Logar province Friday.

The leader was arrested for his alleged leadership of an improvised explosive device cell in the Charkh District of Logar province. He was an expert IED and vehicle-borne IED maker, using his electronics store to facilitate the IED-making process. He also planned, and was directly involved in, rocket attacks and ambushes against ANSF and ISAF.

The Taliban leader was arrested when the joint patrol knocked on the door to the compound he was staying in and was let into the home by the owners. The Taliban leader identified himself in response to their questions and was taken away.

During a subsequent search of the home, two other men were detained when the combined force found IED-making materials inside the home.

The detainees were taken by the Afghan police for processing and further questioning.
