    KIRKUK, Iraq - Four soldiers with 1st Advise and Assist Task Force, “Ready First” 1st Armored Division, were recognized for their achievements during an awards ceremony on Contingency Operating Site Warrior, Kirkuk, Iraq, Sept. 20.

    The awardees include Sgt. 1st Class Chestine Sanders, III; Staff Sgt. David J. Henderson; Sgt. April Sutherland and Sgt. Zachary A. Heins.

    Sgt. 1st Class Sanders, a native of Pine Bluff, Ark. and platoon sergeant with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 501st Brigade Support Battalion was awarded the Sgt. Audie Murphy Club Forces Command Certificate and Army Commendation Medal for being selected into the Sgt. Audie Murphy Club.

    Staff Sgt. David J. Henderson, a native of Fayetteville, N.C., and a platoon sergeant with 1-1 Special Troops Battalion, was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for being selected as the 3rd Infantry Division Noncommissioned Officer of the Quarter.

    Sergeant April Sutherland, a native of Memphis, Tenn., and a linguist with 1-1 STB, was awarded the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal and a plaque, for being selected as the 3rd Infantry Division Soldier of the Quarter.

    Sergeant Heins, a native of Prattsburgh, N.Y., and a non-commissioned officer with 1st Battalion, 30th Infantry Regiment, attached to “Ready First” from the 2nd Advise and Assist Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division, was awarded the Army Achievement Medal and a plaque for being named the “Ready First” NCO of the Quarter.

    After they were each presented with their awards the awardees thanked their leadership and soldiers for getting them to where they are.

    “My command was very supportive during the entire time everyone took part in preparing me,” said Staff Sgt. Henderson.

    Command Sgt. Maj. James P. Daniels, Ready First command sergeant major, said, “These soldiers and leaders represent the future of our Army. I am extremely proud to have them representing Ready First.”
