    NATO Special Operations Component Command-Afghanistan

PAKTIA, Afghanistan – An Afghan local national was shot by insurgents in the village of Rabat, Paktia province Aug. 19.

The man was taken in a taxi to a forward operating base in the area, where U.S. medical personnel treated him. He was then medically evacuated to a hospital in Khowst province for follow-on treatment.

“This attack is an example of how Taliban fighters are attempting to intimidate the populace by shooting anyone they believe is supportive of coalition forces,” said Lt. Col. Donald Franklin, Special Operations Task Force-East commander.
