NEW ORLEANS – The Louisiana National Guard's 1084th Transportation Company, 165th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, delivered boom material to Amelia, La., May 8 in support of operations related to the oil spill off the coast of Louisiana.
"It is a great thing to be able to help prevent the further deterioration of our coast line," said Sgt. Walter Jackson Jr.
On May 7, approximately 30 Guardsmen drove 13 tractor-trailer vehicles to separate Coast Guard stations to pick up booms, which were delivered to St. Mary Parish May 8.
"They traveled in separate three-vehicle elements and picked up boom from two different locations," said 1st Sgt. Todd M. Marchand, senior enlisted adviser for the 1084th.
