KUNAR PROVINCE, Afghanistan — Citizens from the Pech River Valley and Afghan national army soldiers from the 2nd and 3rd Kandaks conducted a community gathering at the Belda Gathering Grounds in the Nangalam District of Kunar province, Nov. 5.
More than 300 Pech River Valley citizens attended the two-day gathering, an effort to build a sense of pride in the community and make villagers aware of counter-improvised explosive device measures and the Voice of the Pech radio station.
To spark additional interest, the gathering hosted a cricket tournament between the top two teams in the valley.
