KABUL, Afghanistan — An International Security Assistance Force service member was killed today as a result of an insurgent attack that occurred in southern Afghanistan.
"On behalf of ISAF, I offer my most sincere sympathies to the loved ones of this proud service member who died tragically while fighting the enemies of Afghanistan. Our thoughts and prayers are with them during this difficult period," said Brigadier-General Eric Tremblay, ISAF Spokesperson.
"This mission is a challenging one, but ISAF and its Afghan security partners remain focussed on separating the insurgents from the population and helping Afghanistan achieve peace and stability."
It is ISAF policy not to release the nationality of any casualty prior to the relevant national authority doing so.
