CAMP LIBERTY, Iraq - The Plans and Operations cell of the 510th Human Resource Company, 10th Sustainment Brigade Troops Battalion, 10th Sustainment Brigade, is a tight-knit group of professionals who continually meet the challenges of a diverse mission. Whether it's bad weather that is affecting flights at the Baghdad International Airport pax terminal, heavy casualties down at the CSH or heavy mail volume, the crew meets those challenges by giving guidance to the field. An example of that is during the 2008 Presidential Election, the push to get the war-fighter their balloting material in a timely manner was the main focus of the mission.

510th HRC Plans & Ops Cell is responsible for full spectrum human resources operations in the Multi-National Division - Baghdad and Multi-National Division - Corps sectors. The Plans and Ops cell is in charge of R5, casualty, and postal operations. It provides reception, return to duty, R&R, replacement and redeployment operations along with Kellogg, Brown, & Root, or KBR, contracted postal oversight. It also provides casualty reporting for Soldiers, civilians, Sailors, and Airmen.

In the R5 section they are in responsible for personal accountability; R&R leave verification and manifesting, briefing in and out bound personnel. In the postal section, they provide oversight on KBR postal contracts, postal finance operations, conduct unit mail room inspections and mobile postal missions. The casualty section provides timely and accurate casualty reports by using defense casualty information processing system, or DCIPS. In the vital personnel services section, they provide common access card production and actions. They also update DD93s and Servicemen's Group Life Insurance.

The key to continued mission success is in the evenly yoked team members. There is a delicate balance of work and play that is ongoing which makes for a less stressful work environment in which communication is continuous. Soldiers work alongside of and embrace our Air Force team members as they bring exceptional technical knowledge of postal operations to the cell. The "One Team One Fight" motto is put on display on a daily basis to ensure the success of the mission.
