    FORWARD OPERATING BASE FALCON, Iraq - Finally after five months of Individual Readiness Training, technical and tactical training and a field training exercise, Alpha Detachment, 125th Financial Management Company, 10th Sustainment Brigade Troops Battalion, 10th Sustainment Brigade, arrived at Forward Operating Base Falcon on Jan.14, ready to embark on the mission.

    Our 23-person detachment from Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, will spend the next 12 months servicing the FOB Falcon community. In addition to office operations, Alpha Det., 125th FM Co. has the responsibility of conducting mobile finance missions throughout our area of operation.

    Alpha Det., 125th FM Co. is committed to providing exceptional service to the Soldiers at FOB Falcon. Alpha Det., 125th FM Co., is commanded by Capt. Marcia Dailey, a native of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. The detachment sergeant is Sgt. 1st Class Kendall Booker, a Lanett, Ala., native, and disbursing is headed by 2nd Lt. Charryse Bass, a native of Brooklyn, N.Y. Chief of Military Pay is Staff Sgt. Michael Tucker, a native of Perrysburg, Ohio. Alpha Det., 125th FM Co. also has a Soldier supporting a mission at the 208th Financial Management Company, 10th SBTB, 10th SBDE. He is Pfc. Jared Ouimette, a Highland, Mich., native.

    With the first month of deployment in the books, the standard is set high for our future operations. Soldiers of Alpha Det., 125th FM Co., will now turn their attention to cross training to provide a well diverse team. After normal duty hours the Soldiers are definitely keeping busy improving their minds and bodies. They are either enrolled or in the process of enrolling in college classes or concentrating on working out at the gym. On Feb. 1, Pvt. Jaime Velastegui, a native of Houston, and Pvt. Johnnie Ward, a Washington, N.C., native, were advance to private first class. The detachment was honored to have Spc. Zorwell Largo, a Fair Oaks, Calif., native, the first of many Soldiers to reenlist for five more years. Training is an ongoing task for the detachment; one Soldier attended and completed the Combat Lifesaver Course and two Soldiers are currently enrolled in the GT improvement class. Alpha Det., 125th FM Co., has already successfully conducted two MFMST's.

    April will mark the start of the R&R leave portion of the rotation which is sure to be a welcomed break for the Soldiers. Although this is the first deployment for most of the Soldiers, a positive attitude is maintained by all. With this team of highly motivated and dedicated Soldiers, Alpha Det., 125th FM Co. is ready to accomplish any task or mission that may come our way.
