CAMP ARIFJAN, Kuwait - The 469th Financial Management Center, a New Orleans, La. Reserve component, transferred authority to the 18th FMC, from Fort Bragg, N.C., in a ceremony, Feb. 11.

Col. Michael W. Murfee, 18th FMC director, is now charged with leading his center through the same successes achieved by 469th FMC, and their director, Col. Quintin H. Fulgham Sr.

"We have passed the torch to a very capable FMC," said Fulgham.

"Your talents and experience level will be invaluable as you seek to improve your inherited foxhole."

Fulgham ended his speech with words of encouragement, wisdom and a slight prayer for a continued successful mission.

"The bar has been raised and the expectations are high," said Brig. Gen. Harold G. Bunch, deputy commanding general, and 1st Theater Sustainment Command. "I have no doubt that you, Col. Murfee, and the entire 18th FMC working with [Combined Forces Land Component Command Finance] will continue the great work of the 469th FMC and take it to new heights. Welcome to First Team."

Both Bunch and Brig. Gen. Phillip E. McGhee, director for Resource Management, Army Central Command, congratulated the 469th Soldiers for their hard work and soon departure, and noted the many achievements over the previous ten months.

"You and your Soldier/civilian team have moved mountains over the past ten months, mountains that would have remained in place and resistant to change, had it not been for the visionary leadership, selfless sacrifices of your warriors, and willingness to continuously improve your foxholes while in theater," said McGhee. "The FM trail you have broken will be further developed by Col. Murfee, Sgt. Maj. [Annie] Walker and 18th Theater FMC from Fort Bragg, NC."
