1st Sustainment Brigade
CAMP LIBERTY, Iraq – The 553rd Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 1st Sustainment Brigade, recently took over operations from the 168th Brigade Support Battalion at the end of September.
This was the 553rd CSSB's third transition since arriving in theater. For the Soldiers of the 553rd CSSB S-1 Shop, it is a time for renovations. Sgt. Jonathan Cook, a Benson, Minn. native, Sgt. William Harris, a Little Rock, Ark. native, and Spc. Byron Murry, a Selma, Ala. native, teamed up to tackle the job of putting new linoleum on the floor of their shop.
"I've never done this before, but there is always the time for learning new skills, even if it is just putting down linoleum," says Sgt. Harris.
Spc. Murry added, "At least I get to try out all this new muscle I have been adding in the gym. We have to move all the furniture out in order to put the new flooring in."
Sgt. Cook said, "I am just happy I get to do something besides S-1 stuff. It gets pretty boring after a while."
The Headquarters and Headquarters Company is currently serving a 15-month tour of duty in support of Multi-National Division-Baghdad.
