LAKE CHARLES, La. – The Louisiana National Guard worked a fast and furious pace to save people in the Lake Charles, La., area from flooding caused by Hurricane Ike.
Soldiers from the 921st Horizontal Engineers out of Winnsboro, La., have rescued 39 people, three dogs and two cats in the first wave of search and rescue missions on Sept. 13, 2008. The Engineers will continue to run missions day and night until all areas have been searched.
