528th Engineer Battalion Unit Public Affairs Representative
LAKE CHARLES, La. – Approximately 70 Soldiers from the Louisiana Army National Guard's 1023rd Engineer Company, 528th Engineer Battalion in Monroe, La., arrived at the Sulphur Parks and Recreation Center in Sulphur, La., in anticipation of the landfall of Hurricane Ike, somewhere along the west coast of the Gulf of Mexico.
The unit includes four three-man boat teams that will participate in damage assessment operations and search and rescue missions as needed in Calcasieu and Cameron Parishes
Working with the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, the 1023rd will also provide engineer work teams to assist in debris removal and street clearing.
