Mobilization and Deployment, DPTMS Fort Bliss

FORT BLISS, Texas - The 346th Military Police Company, 300th MP Brigade, 200th MP Command, U.S. Army Reserve, returned Dec. 9 at the Silas L. Copeland Arrival/Departure Air Control Group airfield after completing an internment and resettlement mission in Guantanamo Bay Naval Base, Cuba.

Welcoming them home was Col. Rick Giles, commander of the 300th MP Bde., who stood at the foot of the stairs as the Soldiers deplaned the aircraft that brought them home.

“I cannot express my admiration of these fine young men and woman for the job that they have done in a very difficult and underappreciated mission,” said Giles. “It is a great day to be able to get (the unit) back home and on this side of the water, hopefully we can get them to their families sooner than later and that they all get home to their families in time for Christmas.”

Giles is referring to the demobilization process that 346th MP Company will undergo with the Mobilization and Deployment office of the Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization and Security.

“It’s a complicated process, but they do a very good job,” said Giles. “I am very thankful and grateful for the mobilization support that they get here at Fort Bliss.”

Pfc. Chris Hehemann, military policeman with the 346th MP Company and Wichita, Kansas, native, rejoiced in the fact that he completed his first deployment and looked forward to seeing his family soon.

Hehemann is a sheriff in his hometown and he expressed his gratitude for his leadership taking care of him during his deployment.

“Our noncommissioned officers were really good support,” said Hehemann. “I learned all kinds of stuff from them, they always had our backs, and they helped us with our (physical training), and anything we wanted to learn they tried to teach us, they were good motivators, they kept us motivated throughout the whole deployment. It was a huge positive especially when dealing with adversities.”

The 346th MP Company is now demobilizing through the MaD office of DPTMS and will soon be home to their families for the holidays.
