INDIAN WELLS, Calif. - As 19 expectant mothers walk into a ballroom, their faces lit up with appreciation when they saw a stage lined with gifts meant for them, and their soon-to-be-born babies.
More than 130 people attended the event including the Combat Center Chief of Staff, Col. James Hanlon and his wife Heather Hanlon who were the guests of honor.
“All these women are young and some of them are going to be first-time mothers. What better way to help them out than to give them a starter kit for babies,” Roberts said.
The event treated the 19 expectant mothers with a lunch and gift baskets filled with baby products like bibs, blankets, hats and socks along with an assortment of other baby products. A raffle was also held giving away Disney tickets and spa packages.
“It is amazing, it is definitely more than I expected,” said Erin Murphy, a mother participating in the baby shower. “I thought we were just going to receive some diapers and a bib but instead it was a giant gift basket and a lunch. It really feels like an early Christmas.”
At the end of the event, Raymond Moore, the master of ceremonies wished the expecting mothers all the best. The mothers’ faces radiated smiles and joy as they embark on the journey of motherhood that awaits them.
