Background: The Army Reserve's 99th Regional Support Command will officially open and memorialize the new $6.4 million 1st Lt. Paul A. Doble Memorial U.S. Army Reserve Center in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, Dec. 13 at 10 a.m.

“Right now, thousands of Army Reserve Soldiers are forward deployed around the world, providing life-saving and life-sustaining capabilities to the Army’s Total Force,” said Maj. Gen. Margaret W. Boor, commanding general of the 99th RSC. “The Army Reserve’s mandate is to plan, prepare and provide, and this facility will go a long way toward accomplishing these goals.”

This 20,600-square-foot training facility replaces the Army Reserve Center in Pease, New Hampshire, built in the late 1950s. This new center is scheduled to be home to Soldiers of the Army Reserve’s 399th Combat Support Hospital and 3rd Legal Operations Detachment. This 6.33-acre complex resembles a community college with an emphasis on unit administration, classroom training and vehicle maintenance and storage. This Army Reserve Center is part of construction undertaken as a direct result of the Base Realignment and Closure recommendations made in 2005.
