JOINT BASE LANGLEY-EUSTIS, Va. - Greeted by Joint Base Langley-Eustis leadership, Virginia, Gov. Terry McAuliffe visited with JBLE service members, Dec. 2 in hopes to gain a greater understanding of the major military installations in the Commonwealth of Virginia, as well as, find out what he can do to assist JBLE.
McAuliffe, the 72nd governor of Virginia, visited several locations on the two installations and spoke to multiple U.S. Airmen and Soldiers about their involvement in maintaining the mission capabilities of JBLE.
"It's important for the local leaders to see what we do on the installation," said U.S. Army Col. William Galbraith, 733rd Mission Support Group commander. "The visit was a way to show service members that politicians do care and see how the local government works."
At Langley Air Force Base, McAuliffe received briefings from Airmen assigned to the 192nd Fighter Wing, 633rd Mission Support Group, 633rd Medical Group and the 480th Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance Wing. Upon arrival to Fort Eustis, he met with Soldiers at the Training and Doctrine Command, Joint Task Force Civil Support, 7th Transportation Brigade (Expeditionary) and 597 Trans. Bde.
"It was really outstanding for community leadership to come visit us after re-deploying," said U.S. Army Sgt. Kevin J. Parrish, 622 Movement Control Team, 53rd Transportation Battalion (MC), 7th Trans. Bde, transportation coordinator. "I really appreciated [the visit.]"
