BISMARCK, N.D. - Bismarck State College's (BSC) Military Science Department will host a Combat Water Survival Training course 1-2 p.m. tomorrow, Nov. 26, at the BSC Aquatic and Wellness Center. Instructors from the North Dakota National Guard will lead the training, which is free and open to the public.
The training is designed to introduce participants to Reserve Officers' Training Corps programs available through North Dakota universities. The Combat Survival Training course uses the same curriculum presented to members of the U.S. Army, Nave Air Force and Marines. Participants will learn a number of aquatic tasks, including surviving stressful water situations, turning clothing into a life jacket and keeping gear afloat.
Attendees must be 18 years or older and able to swim moderately well. Additionally, participants must bring their own swimsuits and towels. At the end of the training, certificates of completion will be presented.
