FORT POLK, Louisiana - An Army explosive ordnance disposal technician was named top student at the Warrior Leader Course here in October.

Spc. Collin R. Fuller, a native of Kaufman, Texas, was selected as the distinguished honor graduate from the month-long leadership course for noncommissioned officers.

A member of Fort Polk-based 705th EOD Company, Fuller joined the U.S. Army in January 2011.

"Specialist Fuller was so successful in WLC because he is an outstanding Soldier and the training that we conduct at the company prepares all our Soldiers to excel," said 1st Sgt. Carl A. Flowers, the company's senior enlisted leader.

The 705th EOD Company covers Louisiana and Mississippi and defeats unexploded ordnance on Fort Polk's Joint Readiness Training Center, the U.S. Army's premier light infantry training center. The company recently received the Valorous Unit Award for its service in Afghanistan in 2011.

The 705th EOD Company is part of the 63rd EOD Battalion, 52nd EOD Group, 20th CBRNE Command (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, Explosives), the Department of Defense's only command that combats chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosives threats.

According to Flowers, Fuller is an example of the kind of Soldier serving in his company.

"Specialist Fuller is an explosive ordnance disposal specialist and warrior that will always accomplish the mission," said Flowers, who is from Ohioville, Pennsylvania.
