JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM, Hawaii – Greeted by the cheers of family and friends, the Soldiers walked proudly off the airplane and into the terminal after nine months in Kuwait.

Thirty-one watercraft Soldiers from 605th Transportation Detachment, 45th Sustainment Brigade, 8th Theater Sustainment Command returned from their deployment in Kuwait aboard U.S. Army Logistics Support Vessel-6 Nov. 12, landing at Honolulu International Airport and transported to their redeployment ceremony at Missing Man Field here.

“It brings me great joy to welcome back this detachment as it marks the first time in over a year that all three detachments of the 545th Transportation Company are at home station,” said Capt. Christopher J. Vesce, commander of the 545th Transportation Company. “Last year has been nonstop for the 605th."

“From the completion of predeployment mandatory training, to sailing back the LSV-2 from Tacoma, Washington, and finally a successful nine-month deployment aboard the LSV-6 in Kuwait, this group of talented Soldiers met and accomplished each challenge with poise and professionalism,” Vesce said.

The Soldiers were deployed at Kuwait Naval Base to transport cargo for the Department of Defense personnel and other customers throughout the Persian Gulf.

Vesce informed the Soldiers to enjoy the time with their families but to also be safe in their activities here on the island.

“It is highly likely that the life as you knew in the last nine months has changed; kids have aged, spouses have developed new habits and routines,” Vesce stated. “Your families are happy to have you home and it’s important that you enjoy your time with them. Be patient as you slowly become a fixture in their everyday lives again."

“Now, I know everyone is anxious to get back to living the dream here in Hawaii, but I do ask that you do not forget the safety precautions and measures that have allowed you to be successful thus far,” Vesce said.
