YAKIMA, Wash. - Marine Corps Recruiting Station Seattle is excited to announce the selection of Semper Fidelis All-American Shane Lemieux, a offensive tackle for the West Valley High School Rams varsity football team.

Surrounded by his family and teammates at a game against the Wenatchee High School Panthers at West Valley High School Oct. 31, 2014, the 17-year-old Yakima native was presented his 2015 Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl jersey by Capt. Ryan Sahlberg, the operations officer of Marine Corps Recruiting Station Seattle, and Sgt. James Campos, a local Marine recruiter.

The Semper Fidelis Football Program demonstrates the Marine Corps’ commitment to developing quality citizens and reinforces its core values of honor, courage and commitment. To be named Semper Fidelis All-Americans, top-rated high school football players from across the nation are evaluated on their success both on and off the gridiron. In addition to their stats, players are chosen based on their character, academic performance and leadership.

The solid 6’6”, 305-lb. Lemieux is among approximately 100 student athletes from across the nation selected to participate in the 2015 Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl game at The StubHub Center in Carson, Calif., Jan. 4. Lemieux joins cornerback Austin Joyner from Marysville-Pilchuck High School in Marysville as the only two players from Washington State selected for this year’s game.

“I aspire to allow my leadership qualities to stand out by being a leader on my team and in my school,” Lemieux said. “To be courteous off the field and intense on the field.”

During the 2014 regular season, Lemieux racked up nine tackles for loss of yards and four and a half sacks. Off the field, he maintains a 3.0 cumulative GPA and stays active in the community by volunteering at a local shelter and assisting with a youth football camp. Following his high school graduation, Lemieux will attend the University of Oregon on a football scholarship.

“Playing in the Semper Fi Bowl will afford me the opportunity to thank my stepdad and my uncles for their military service and what they’ve done for us,” Lemieux said, referencing his stepfather and uncle who served in the Marine Corps, and an uncle who recently retired from the Army.

The fourth annual Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl will be nationally televised on Fox Sports 1. For more information about the program, visit www.SemperFidelisFootball.com or www.facebook.com/SemperFidelisFootball.
