WAYNESVILLE, N.C. – Soldiers with the 211th Military Police Company, 105th Military Police Battalion, 130th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade were welcomed home with a parade and a ceremony in their honor in Waynesville, North Carolina, on Oct. 19, 2014.

The official welcome home ceremony marks the beginning of the unit’s transition from deployment.

The Clyde, N.C. based unit, as well as local high school marching bands and community organizations, paraded down the main street in Waynesville and ended in front of the Haywood County Court House, where the ceremony was held.

Staff. Sgt. Jefferson Hoyle, a Soldier with the 211th MPs said he was surprised that the town was honoring them with a parade.
“This community has really shown a lot of support to this unit,” Hoyle said. “Even before we left, while we were gone and especially since we’ve been back. It’s absolutely humbling to see how many people have shown their support for our families.”

Townspeople and family members lined the street and cheered as
the soldiers marched in front of them.

“As a community we felt that it was important to honor the unit and to let each of the members of the 211th know how grateful we are for their sacrifice,” said Waynesville Chief of Police Bill Hollingsed. “We know the hardships that the Soldiers and their families go through during a deployment and it was an honor for us to recognize them.”

This was the second deployment to Afghanistan for the 211th MP Company.
